These are top tips to ensure that your items are delivered quickly and in good condition. Obviously feedback is now very important with all online market places and ensuring your clients orders arrives when expected and in good condition will help to get you that glowing review, building your fans, online reputation and ultimately your order book.
Packaging
All items should be wrapped individually in bubble wrap to ensure that they are protected and do not move around in transit. The outer packaging should be made of new double walled cardboard as first impressions count. Make sure the edges are securely taped so that it does not open in transit.
Despatch your order quickly.
All buyers like to know that you have appreciated their business and that you have not forgotten about their order. The best way to do this is by processing their order quickly, ideally same day despatch.
Once you have despatched the parcel keep them informed and let them know its’ on its way. If you have used a tracked or signed for service, give them the parcel number and information on when the item will be delivered.
You can also tell them where they can track the parcel in transit. This is especially true for parcels that are sent using international courier services.
With ebay if you meet their despatch conditions you will automatically get a 5 star rating for despatch time. This type of high star rating will help you sell more goods, as potential buyers are looking more and more at reviews before buying.
Make sure that you always keep stock of the packaging supplies that you need, for your sales.
Insurance
Always check the value of the transit liability included in your courier delivery service. Some services will let you buy additional liability cover. This is especially important for high value goods. You should also check that items inside your parcel delivery are not excluded from cover in the courier services “sent at senders own risk|” list of commodities. It is obvious that if you send a parcel to France, that the list of restricted or uninsured goods might be different on that service to the usual service you use for domestic deliveries. So you need to check the small print in each of the services that you use carefully to ensure that you use an appropriate service for each despatch.
Feedback
As soon as your client orders, given them positive feedback. So that as soon as your delivery is made they will feel a little obligated to also give you good feedback.
Special Offers
It is a good idea to include thank-you note inside your parcel, along with special offers for existing clients. You can promote similar products and offer special discounts. Selling again to an existing client is usually much easier than selling to a new one from scratch. Give some thought as to what special offer to make them, as it may be easier to deliver a large item locally than offer a deal on a large item that you need to send by courier to Spain. The big advantage with previous clients is that they understand that you are genuine and have experience of you delivering what they have ordered, making them much more likely to buy again with the right offer.
